COVID-19 Healthcare Workers / Supporting the people behind the heroes

01 / Overview

Care goes both ways.

Healthcare workers were celebrated as heroes during the pandemic, yet their own pressures and emotional needs were often less visible.

I wanted to understand their experiences and explore how visual communication could create space for conversation, recognition, and support.

The audience

Healthcare workers looking for a way to share their experiences, express emotions, and connect with others.

The challenge

Demanding work and limited personal time leave fewer opportunities to stay connected with friends, family, and the public.

The intention

Create accessible channels for shared stories and public appreciation, bringing healthcare workers and their communities closer together.

02 / Research

From listening to a clear direction.

A four-stage process connects the initial research with the final campaign. Explore each stage below.

03 / Concept

Make room for connection.

Two complementary channels give personal stories a place to be shared, and public appreciation a way to reach the people behind them.

01 / Shared conversation

Topic-based Zoom rooms

A proposed space for healthcare workers to chat, share stories, and connect through themed conversations and creative activities.

02 / Public appreciation

A social storytelling channel

Stories and positive news bring healthcare workers’ experiences to a wider audience. Messages of goodwill create a channel for public support and interaction.
